About

J. Hannon & Sons Ltd is one of the longest established funeral directors in Ireland having been founded in 1852 by John Hannon in Graigue, Shanballymore, Cork.

His son John (Jack) Hannon carried on the business and relocated it to Doneraile in the 1930’s. He was one of the last undertakers in Ireland to hand make coffins. Jack’s son Sean and his wife Breda opened the first funeral home in the 1980’s and developed the business greatly. Conor Hannon is now the fourth generation to maintain this family-run tradition along with his wife Mary.

Conor has been involved in the business his entire life. Following the passing of Sean Hannon in 2021, Conor assumed full operational responsibility for the business. A stalwart of the local community, he is well known in particular in GAA circles across North Cork and beyond. Conor developed his understanding of and appreciation for the undertaking business working with his grandfather Jack and his father Sean. He is both proud and honoured to be the fourth generation of Hannon’s entrusted with leading the business and representing its proud history.

Originally from Tipperary, Mary has been involved in arranging funerals since moving to Doneraile in the 1990’s following her marriage to Conor. A qualified Nurse and Midwife, Mary has been caring for and supporting bereaved families in planning funerals for their loved ones with a focus on respect, quality, compassion and attention to detail to ensure the wishes of the deceased and their family are fulfilled.

The ethos of J. Hannon & Sons has always been to provide the highest levels of care for bereaved families and their loved ones and to do so with the utmost compassion and respect.
